The Course
Can constipation be the driver for poor postural stability? Can airway issues cause constipation? Who is the driver? In this mini course I will delve into the multifaceted role of the diaphragm and its contributions beyond respiration, particularly its impact on musculoskeletal integrity and organ health.
Participants will examine the diaphragm’s key anatomical adaptations from infancy onward, uncovering how its position influences the development of continence as well as visceral mobility. Through an in-depth look at the diaphragm’s connection with the pelvic floor, learners will gain insight into how optimal alignment supports continence, fosters musculoskeletal stability, and improves postural stability. The course will also explore the integral contributions of both the diaphragm and ribcage to overall core function—well beyond respiration—shedding light on problems that can first arise in childhood and persist throughout the lifespan. By addressing issues rooted in early development, participants will develop a holistic understanding of the diaphragm’s critical influence throughout the lifespan.

• Outline the contributions of the diaphragm and ribcage to both continence and musculoskeletal stability.
• Recognize the diaphragm's crucial functions beyond respiratory activities.
• Address issues that originate in childhood and persist throughout an individual's life.
